After 16 Years of Service Firefighter Ed Ruch Sr. Retires

Saturday, November 18, 2023, marked the end of an era for the New Windsor Fire Department, as Ed Ruch, Sr. worked his last shift with the department. Firefighter Ruch has been a dedicated part-time employee for the New Windsor Fire Department for the last 16 years. Ed has become a weekend fixture at the station working mostly on weekend as Firefighter/EMT-B. Prior to working for the New Windsor Fire Department, Ed also worked full time for the Westminster Fire Engine and Hose Company #1, for 10 years, and the Gamber and Community Fire Company, for 14 years.

Ed has been a dedicated public servant to the citizens of Carroll County for 52 years, serving with the Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department (where he continues to actively serve). Ed served as Sykesville's Fire Chief for 12 years. Department.

The New Windsor Fire Department would like to thank Ed for his years of service and dedication to the department and wishes a long and healthy retirement. We look forward to seeing you around Carroll County.
