Carroll County SALT / TRIAD Refrigerator Card Program

1. What is the Carroll County SALT / TRIAD Refrigerator Card Program ?

 The Carroll County SALT /TRIAD Refrigerator Card program is a partnership between the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association, Carroll County TRIAD, and Carroll Hospital Center to help enure that vital information is available to first responders, and hospital personnel during the time of an emergency. The Carroll County SALT / TRIAD Refrigerator Card provides all medical information first responders may need to know about a patient during the time of an emergency. An reduces stress placed upon the family, so they do not have to look for the information during the time of an emergency.

2. How is the Refrigerator Card Program different than the Vial of Life Program ?

Even though the Refrigerator Card Program and the Vial of Life Program are very similar programs, that are aimed at helping first responders obtain vital information there are several benefits of the Refrigerator Card Program. First off the Refrigerator Card is placed on the outside of the refrigerator in plain sight of the first responder. This will save the first responder from having to go through your refrigerator during your time of an emeregency. Secondly the Vial of Life sometimes can be confused with a pill bottle, which some first responders may overlook. For these reasons the New Windsor Fire Department suuports the Refrigerator Card Program.

3. What hospitals participate in the Refrigerator Card Program ?

The Refrigerator Card Program is a nationally recognized program and all local hospitals in the area participate in this program. This includes the two primary hospitals in the New Windsor Area, Carroll Hospital Center and Federick Memorial Hospital. In fact if you have recently been seen at one of these local hospitals they may have inculded a copy of the Refrigerator Card in your discharge paperwork.

4. How can I obtain a Carroll County SALT / TRIAD Refrigerator Card ?

 There are several options you have when trying to obtain a copy the Refrigerator Card

        1. Visit Any Local Fire Station in Carroll County

        2. An Electronic Version of the Refrigerator Card, can be found at the bottom of this page (just click on the link)

           - If you use the Electonic Version please print the form out on piece of brightly colored paper to be easier seen

5. How does the Carroll County SALT / TRIAD Refrigerator Card Program work ?

The Carroll County Refrigerator Card Program is simple:

        1. Obtain a Copy of Carroll County Refrigerator Card

        2. Fill Out the Refrigerator Card Completely

        3. Place Refrigerator Card on the Outside of Your Refrigerator in easy sight for any First Responder

        4. Update Refrigerator Card as needed 

6. Who is the Carroll County Triad ?

The Carroll County TRIAD is made up of several different organizations including local law enforcement, the Carroll County State's Attorney, Carroll County Bureau of Aging, Carroll County Retired Teachers Assciation and the AARP Chapter 662. The Carroll County TRIAD focuses it efforts on crime prevent and educational programs for older community members.
