By Assistant Chief David Coe
May 12, 2026

On the morning of Tuesday, May 12, 2026, members of the New Windsor Fire Department responded to assist the Westminster Fire Department with a reported house fire in the 200 block of Glenbrook Drive. Initial dispatch information advised of smoke coming from a single-family residence.

First arriving units encountered a one-story single-family dwelling with visible fire and smoke showing from the front of the structure. Fire conditions were rapidly progressing, with reports indicating fire extension into the attic and flames impacting nearby vegetation. Command (Operations 100 -- Deputy Chief Supko) upgraded the incident and requested additional resources.

Firefighters worked quickly to bring the fire under control while crews simultaneously checked for extension throughout the structure and protected neighboring exposures. Utilities to the home were secured, and the fire was declared under control within approximately 30 minutes of dispatch.

Crews from Engine 101 assisted with overhaul operations to ensure there was no additional fire spread within the structure. Additional units remained on scene for an extended period completing overhaul and extinguishing remaining hot spots.

Members from the New Windsor Fire Department assisted alongside numerous mutual aid departments from Carroll County and surrounding jurisdictions throughout the incident.

The New Windsor Fire Department would like remind residents to ensure working smoke alarms are installed throughout their homes and to have an evacuation plan that includes pets and family members.
