| The New Windsor Lions Club invites community members to roll up their sleeves and make a lifesaving difference by donating blood at its upcoming Community Blood Drive on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, in the Social Hall of the New Windsor Fire Department (Windsor Station).
There has never been a more important time to donate.
Earlier this week, the American Red Cross declared only the second national blood supply crisis in its history after blood donations dropped to a four-year summer low. Hospitals across the country continue to experience increased demand for blood during the busy summer trauma season, while extreme heat, poor air quality, illnesses, and seasonal travel have significantly reduced donor turnout. The shortage has become so severe that the Red Cross has begun limiting distributions of Type O blood to hospitals in an effort to ensure lifesaving blood remains available for the most critical emergencies.
According to the American Red Cross, just three additional donors at every blood drive this summer could help end the current blood supply crisis and stabilize the nation's blood inventory. Every donation has the potential to help save multiple lives, whether it's a trauma patient, a child battling cancer, someone undergoing surgery, or a patient receiving lifesaving medical treatment.
The New Windsor Lions Club encourages all eligible donors to take an hour out of their day to help a neighbor in need. Blood cannot be manufactured—it can only come from generous volunteer donors. Your donation today could mean the difference between life and death for someone tomorrow.
